Nasa kennedy space center historic coins8/25/2023 ![]() Come to find out we were behined a large group purchasing tickets for three tour buses full of a group of rude people. The wait for the our tickets ended up being a half hour.Just to gain admission to a shove fest of inconciderate people with very little to no help from the staff. So that was my trip to Kennedy Space Center, a really good place to spend a day.Ĭame all the way from Columbus Ohio with three excited boys as well as my wife and I.Purchased vouchers at AAA in Columbus to help the wait at the front gate. When we arrived we were limited to two ticket windows to pick up our tickets. It's not on the exhibits list, only on the insert. Exploration Space is one of those hidden treasures. Also skipped Star Trek Live, not interested in that. Skipped Hubble because I saw that in my local IMAX. But this place could've used some animatronics, as it seemed kinda fake. Very educational, showing different animals around the area. Nature & Technology was an interesting building, very different. It's tough to find the Space Walk of Honor, I think it was closed off by the time I went by. I saw the art gallery, but it had no photos so that was disappointing. Center for Space Education was closed when I walked by, but it was probably kiddy anyway. ![]() Launch Status Center was kinda boring, but good for a few photos. Early Space Exploration was also interesting, and Shuttle Explorer was also great, quite realistic. ![]() The Rocket Garden's terrific, with many different rockets and a big Apollo 11 display. Also skipped the Astronaut Encounter, figured that'd be too kiddy. The Eye on the Universe Hubble Space Telescope images were amazing. Didn't do the Shuttle Launch Experience since I figured it'd be like Mission: Space at Epcot and make me queasy. I went to the Magnificent Desolation IMAX, which was good, showing all the people who landed on the moon. It includes the Astronaut Hall of Fame, which is right down the road, and includes many different interesting attractions like the surface of Mars, Planets discussion, the history of the space program, etc. The place on the whole is a really good deal though. I ate lunch at the 2nd stop, where I got some good pizza. There's a big walkway to another building, where you walk through capsules. Next was the International Space Station Center, where you see people working on stuff related to it, as well as displays around there. During one of the films it recreates an old launch and makes it realistic. The biggest thing was the rocket display and stuff connected to the rockets, like the capsules and the thing that burns off from the rocket upon liftoff. Next stop was the Apollo/Saturn V Center, which had some more films and many displays around of various things, including spacesuits and stuff from space. Anyway, the bus tour guys are funny and entertaining. The bus tour stops at the Launch Complex 39 Observation Gantry, which features a film and some displays while another film's showing, as well as a big observation place you can walk on and look out (but the viewers are coin operated). Anyway, I would recommend starting with the bus tour, which includes a few interesting stops. I think they added a lot of stuff since I last went, about 12 years ago. I had already gone here a couple times before, on a fifth grade field trip and another time, and it was good to be back.
